Early on in my writing classes, a professor advised us to "write what we know." I’m glad that is the accepted practice for a writer because all of my stories are based on snapshots of my life. Crash Helmets took place many years ago in my backyard; it is a nonfiction account of how much things change to stay the same. Most of the stories have had a character’s name changed but essentially otherwise are nonfiction. Even the "talking cat" is based on facts surrounding my love affair with my aging Iddgy; there didn’t seem to be another way to tell his story. I hope you enjoy reading these excerpts.
