Designed and developed an informational website to educate viewer about the Global Positioning System and the ways it infiltrates their daily lives. Group members individually wrote the three main areas of conversation but the actual development of the site was my responsibility. Project meets partial course requirements for the Professional Writing program.
NOTE: While reviewing and updating this portfolio I nearly pulled this work sample. Most of the site is executed through the use of "Frames" and nested tables. By today's Web standards, the site is clunky, the pages are heavy and slow loading, images are large and sliced to facilitate faster loading, the frames inhibit bookmarking and search engine optimization, and other subtle issues. So why is it here? Because this is a good example of effective HTML coding written to solve server constraints. Server Side Includes were not available on the University server and the class requirement restricted on which server the site was to be loaded. Viewing the source code shows an early utilization of CSS. All-in-all, the GPS site was inovative for its time and a spring board for further skills development.
